Yin yoga is a self-healing yoga system born from the merger of Indian hatha yoga and the Chinese Taoist tradition, where we mainly do sitting and lying poses, and the focus is on relaxation. It is strongly meditative in nature and gently, yet deeply moves the body physically and energetically. Yin yoga is meridian-based yoga, where the energy channels that surround the human body - that is, meridians - are in the focus.

In Chinese medicine, 71 meridians have been given names and 12 meridians are considered really important, which influence the functioning of our main organs. In yin yoga, poses can be connected to each of our meridians, and if we practice them consciously, we can experience their healing, balancing, and energizing effects.
